GETTING HERE AND GETTING AROUND
Getting to Tanyfoel.

We are easy to get to from the UK motorway network. We are about 75 minutes from the J11 of the M6, using the M54 and the A5. There are mainline railway stations 11 miles away in Welshpool and Gobowen, with good connections to Manchester, Birmingham and London Euston. Given a little notice, we can arrange transport to and from Gobowen or Welshpool station to Tanyfoel.
Getting around.

The roads around here are quiet, so driving or riding is easy. There are many local lanes and footpaths to walk.
​
The local attractions are: -
Lake Vyrnwy, where you can take a picnic and sit by the lake, hire bicycles and cycle around the lake, walk their many trails, visit the RSPB centre, or have a relaxing spa, shooting or fishing day.
Pistill Rhaeadr Waterfalls, the highest waterfall in Wales, is a magical place to walk and relax.
Powis Castle, garden and deer park , National Trust property. Home of the Clive family.

Chirk Castle, garden and deer park, National Trust. An original Edward I castle, still lived in.
Enjoy the beauty of the stunning Berwyn mountains.
The British Iron Works Centre and sculpture park is a fab day out with falconry displays and seasonal events.
For the more adventurous try a local off-road motorbike experience or down-hill mountain biking.
The Welshpool and Llanfair Railway in the Banwy Valley is a great day out for young and old alike.

And there's lots to do further afield. The boundary of the Snowdonia National Park is a few miles away. Inside the park, the stunning scenery dominates, there are many things to see and do, like :

Llangollen is a great day out, with it's waterfalls, steam railway, canal trips, pubs and restaurants.

The Froncysyllte Aqueduct is an UNESCO World Heritage site and an engineering marvel.

If you want the seaside, try the Blue Flag beaches at Barmouth, Fairbourne or Borth.
Barmouth, Borth, historic Harlech and Criccieth are on the spectacular Cambrian Coast Railway that runs from Welshpool or Machynlleth. In Barmouth, the station is on the beach.
